The air ticket booking agents are witnessing their drawers clinging as major chunk of people are preferring to travel by air during holidays. The peak season for air ticket booking agents is from November to December to beat the chilly winds at places of their choice.

“There has been a 50 per cent increase in group air ticket bookings compared to previous year,” said Jatinder Nakade, of Travel Links and Chairman of Travel Agents Association of India, Nagpur Chapter while talking to The Hitavada.

Most people prefer travelling in groups as it is more convenient and cheaper for them. They get an opportunity to visit lot of tourist places within a stipulated period as per their respective budgets. The tour operator takes care of everything including the schedule, food and accommodation and places to visit. Demand for special package tours is also increasing.

“If there are any hassles, the tour operator or air ticket agent are always ready to sort them out,” he said. In the domestic tour, the most sought after destinations are Lonavala, Goa, Kerala, Rajasthan, Delhi, Kolkatta, Shimla Manali etc. In the international tour, the most sought after destinations are Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc. Students and businessmen mostly travel to US, UK and Australia, Nakade said.

Another air ticket booking agent of a reputed company said that there has been a remarkable jump in demand for air tickets from Nagpurians. The growth chart of demand in domestic sector has touched 35 per cent mark while international air tickets bookings have swelled 22 per cent when compared with the year-ago period. With growing income levels, the leisure tourism sector is growing by leaps and bounds. “People are willing to cough up extra bucks to remain away from the hustle bustle their routine daily life,: he said. Air ticket bookings are done two months in advance.

Sources said Nagpurians have to face hot weather conditions. Also, there are very few destinations other than wildlife tourism near the city. This is one of the important reasons that Nagpurians tend to visit far off places to enjoy during holidays.
