Mayor inspects arrangements at Dussehra Maidan, directs officials to complete work within time

On Wednesday, Mayor Alok Sharma inspected Chola Dussehra Maidan to check in arrangements for upcoming Dussehra festival. He directed officials to remove encroachment in and around Dussehra ground. He also asked officials to complete the work within time. He also inspected stage, platforms in the Dussehra Maidan. Dussehra Maidan samiti members also informed that in order to curb encroachment wall of the Dussehra maiden has been increased to 8 feet wall.

The proposed wall will be developed worth Rs 83 lakhs rupees in which four gates will be formed. Bhoomipujan will be soon organised to start the construction work of the wall. Dussehra is a festival symbolising victory of good over evil and is celebrated with great fervour in Bhopal. Huge effigies of demon king Ravana were burnt at various places to mark the occasion. The main events of Dussehra will be organised at Dussehra Maidan at Chola. Besides in Bhopal, the effigy of Ravana was burnt at Kolar Dussehra Ground.

TT Nagar, Bittan Market, Shahpura, Kolar Road, MVM Ground, Ashoka Garden, Jamboori Ground, Bairagarh and Govindpura were among other popular venues of Dussehra celebration across the city. BMC officials inspected arrangements in these areas and also carried out anti encroachment drive. Many times religious processions are also organised at various places especially at Chola Dussehra Ground which starts from Banke Bihari and via to Bittan Market Dussehra Ground.

In order to ensure smooth traffic arrangements are being done as encroachments on both sides of roads effects traffic at many places in the city.

He also met different Dussehra Utsav samitis members and also urged them to support cleanliness during festivals. He also gave grant to different samitis for organising Dussehra festival.
