Swami Vivekananda crowned ‘Best Airport’ in country

In another moment of glory for all the people of Chhattisgarh, Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur emerged winner and bagged the National Tourism Award for ‘Best Airport’ in the country, for the third time in a row.

President of Ram Nath Kovind presented the award in the glittering ceremony held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The function was attended by Tourism Minister KJ Alphons and senior ministry officials and representatives of state and various stakeholders of the sector.

Tourism Ministry annually presents National Tourism Awards to States and Union Territories, Classified Hotels, Heritage Hotels, Tour Operators, Tourist Transport Operators, etc. in recognition of their performance in their respective fields.

And leading in the best of India category of Airports, i.e. Best Airport in 54 non-metro airports, Raipur Airport repeated the feat for consecutive third time. However, this time, it had a companion in Srinagar Airport who shared the fame.

The achievement is the result of untiring efforts on the part of Raipur Airport Director Santosh Dhoke and his team, who work 365 days a year to maintain high standard of Airport Operations.

The gateway to the immense tourist potential land of Chhattisgarh, Raipur Airport excels in various facilities which a passenger requires. The ease of access, availability of public transport, the design and ambience, cleanliness, courtesy and attitude of Airport staff, etc. made Swami Vivekananda Airport again number one in its field.

Speaking to media persons after the function, Airport Director Santosh Dhoke dedicated this award to the people of Chhattisgarh at large.

He also thanked Dr Raman Singh led State Govt’s bureaucracy and administration for always being supportive and creating conducive environment for growth and development of Civil Aviation in Chhattisgarh.
