With bullet injuries in his abdomen, Jagdish Shrawankar was rushed to Mayo Hospital

AN employee of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) was shot at by two goons near Kandri Bus Stand on Wednesday morning. With bullet injuries in his abdomen, Jagdish Shalikram Shrawankar (59) was rushed to Mayo Hospital.


A resident of Machlipul Kamptee, Shrawankar was going towards Open Cast Mine (OCM) No. 3 on his Bullet motorcycle (MH-40/AH-8424) around 6.30 am. Near Kandri Bus Stand on the National highway, two masked goons came on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle. One of them fired two shots from a revolver at Shrawankar. One of the two bullets hit Shrawankar. After the incident, the goons fled the spot.


Shrawankar was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital from where he was shifted to Mayo Hospital.
Staff from Kanhan Police Station led by Senior Inspector Ravindra Gaikwad arrived at the spot and started the probe. Superintendent of Police (Nagpur Rural) Shailesh Balkawde also visited the spot to supervise investigations. Shrawankar works as diesel operator at WCL.

His brother is in Police Department and presently posted at Aroli Police Station.
A senior police officer told ‘The Hitavada’ that statements of some persons were being recorded to get some clue about the goons. ‘Nakabandi’ was ordered after the incident.
After recording the statement of Chandrabhan Kumbhalkar, a case under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (Acts done by two or more persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Section 3/25 of the Arms Act, at Kanhan Police Station.
