AIRSWEEE inspires women entrepreneurs to reset their goals

AIRSWEEE-All-India Road Show on Women’s Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship, a TiE Global’s new initiative to unleash value creation amongst aspiring young women entrepreneurs in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India was launched in November 2016. The initiative has received funding support from the US Mission in India, US Department of State.


Under Project AIRSWEE, TiE Global conducted 5 workshops in 5 cities in India-- Coimbatore, Warangal, Jaipur, Durgapur and Nagpur. The programme enrolled 25 aspiring women entrepreneurs in each city, through screening process. These 125 mentees got mentored by India and US based mentors on various aspects of entrepreneurship. After the workshops, 5 participants from each city received intensive mentoring for last 6 months.


The valedictory function was organized at the US Embassy, Delhi with the 2 days workshop on ‘Her Power, A Women Entrepreneur Conclave.’ The selected 25 women from all 5 cities were invited by TiE Global to attend the function. The workshop was focused on legal considerations in starting and growing your enterprise; selling effectively; building a sustainable brand and elevated pitches of all 25 women.
From Nagpur, Ashita Reuben of Coffee Beans Studio, Bhavana Chittawar of SkillEE Trainings Pvt Ltd, Bhawana C Janbandhu of BJ’S Color N Pattern, Jyoti Kapoor of Infinite Space and Lulua Kapadia of TriCous attended the session. All the 5 women were interviewed for ET, US Embassy.


Ashita Reuben said, “AIRSWEEE boosted my confidence even more and made me feel that my decision to start my own company was not a mistake. AIRSWEEE brought more than 125 women entrepreneurs together who are constantly in touch and are helping each other to get business & build a stronger foundation. For me AIRSWEEE has been a driving force that leads to meet like-minded and dynamic women entrepreneurs like me.”


Bhavana Chittawar said, “After attending 2 day AIRSWEEE workshop at Nagpur, I decided to convert my concept to reality. AIRSWEEE has been a great motivator to work on the idea of SkillEE Trainings, which was just on concept stage. Selection in top 25 amongst 125 was a great encouragement and it strengthened the belief further. AIRSWEEE allotted great mentors like Rita Aggarwal and Ritu Khurana. Telephonic meetings to discuss the issues in taking the venture forward gave the moral boosting to go ahead.”


Bhawana C Janbandhu said, “I was struggling with the basic business concepts. I was having product ideas and knowledge but still I was not able to generate enough sales leads to sustain my business. The moment I joined AIRSWEEE, the doors of opportunities opened for me in terms of various important concepts related to business. I got awarded with great mentors like Kristine Quine and Rita Aggarwal who are experts in business acumen.”


Jyoti Kapoor said, “During the course of journey with AIRSWEEE, we have created new tie-ups. Now, we have our presence in some schools and game libraries, and we learn how to work amazingly on the e-market segment. We extended our target market and now in a process of tapping the Malaysian market. I received a continuous encouragement from my mentors. I thank TiE and AIRSWEEE for giving me this opportunity.”


Lulua Kapadia said, “In the past 6 months, we have over 25 corporate clients and more than 35 counters in and around Nagpur developing a distribution chain and increasing our sales by 60 per cent We plan to increase output from 5 tonnes to 20 tonnes in next 2 years.”
