Businessman booked in fraud case worth lakhs

A BUSINESSMAN was arrested for criminal breach of trust and cheating involving over Rs 46.25 lakh in Chhaoni, Bhilai. The offence was registered against the accused on
complaints lodged by three wholesale dealers at Chaoni and Jamul Police Stations. The accused businessman was absconding but the police cell team succeeded in zeroing in on him and arrested him in connection with criminal offences registered against him.

Police sources informed that the accused businessman was identified as P Bhaskar Rao, a resident of Street-24, Zone II, Khursipar, Bhilai.
As per the first complaint, the complainant Vimla Agrawal, Proprietor, Vimla Enterprises, Nandini Road, Bhilai alleged that the accused P Bhaskar Rao was purchasing hardware goods including welding rods in bulk quantity for his hardware shop (Padma Traders, Housing Board, Kurud, Jamul) and during the period April, 2016 to June 2017 he purchased hardware goods to the tune of Rs 20 lakh and issued bank cheques against the due payments.

As per the victim Vimla Agrawal, she was paid merely Rs 4 lakh till date as other cheques issued by the accused were dishonoured owing to insufficient balance in his bank account. In his complaint, Varghese Deniel, Proprietor, T S Enterprises of Industrial Area, Housing Board, Jamul alleged that the accused P Bhaskar Rao purchased electrodes, grinding machines, grinding wheels etc and cheated him with over Rs 13.53 lakh in making due payment as cheques issued by him were dishonoured owing to insufficient balance.

In yet another similar complaint, Ankit Khosla, Proprietor, Om Sai Traders, Chhoani, Bhilai alleged that the accused P Bhaskar Rao had also purchased various hardware goods in bulk quantity from him and making partial payment in cash and issuing cheques, he cheated him with over Rs 9.37 lakhs. The complainant Ankit Khosla also alleged the cheques issued against the due payments by P Bhaskar Rao were dishonoured and the accused was also absconding.

The accused businessman P Bhaskar Rao was absconding since the offences were registered against him at Chhaoni and Jamul Police Stations. While launching search operation Crime Branch police succeeded in laying hands on the accused P Bhaskar Rao and arrested him in connection with his involvement in cheating and criminal breach of trust cases. The police have registered the offence against the accused under Sections 420 and 406 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for indulging in the criminal acts of cheating and committing offence of criminal breach of trust.
