RGNIIPM, Nagpur starts training for examiners of Asian countries

Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management, (RGNIIPM), Civil Lines, Nagpur an institute under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion ((DIPP) is conducting one week ‘World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)-INDIA training course for the examiners of Asian countries.’ The training started from September 25 on ‘Patent Search and Examination.’

RGNIIP is a premier institute for conducting training programmes on Intellectual Property Rights. Apart from India, officers from nine countries i.e. Bhutan, South Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, SriLanka, Vietnam are participating in the training programme. The programme was inaugurated by Tshinamga Kongoto, Head, Professional Development Programme, WIPO Academy.

The training programme has been designed with a focus on search and examination of patent applications in the world of pharmaceuticals. The programme will cover all the important topics such as substantive examination of patent application, novelty and inventive step analysis through case studies, unity of inventions etc.

A total of 27 patent officials from Asian countries are the participants for the training programme. It will enable the
examiners to exchange their views and share their experience on the practice followed in their countries.

Pankaj Borkar, Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs and Head, RGNIIPM, Dr K S Kadam, Senior Joint Controller of Patents & Designs, Patent Office, New Delhi, Sukhdeep Singh, Dr Usha Rao, both Assistant Controller of Patent and Designs are taking efforts in regard of successful activities of training programme.
