Cricket fever in city as India, Australia teams arrive today

CRICKET fever is back in the city with the Vidarbha Cricket Association’s (VCA) Jamtha stadium hosting the fifth and last One-Dayer between India and Australia on October 1. It will be a Super Sunday as the Australian team has finally beaten the rampaging Indians.
The last match is sure to be another huge entertainer with the Australian big hitter finally exploding. Both India and Australia teams will be arriving in city on Friday from Bengaluru, where the fourth ODI was played.

The Virat Kohli-led Indian team and Steve Smith’s Australians are expected to arrive at 5 pm on Friday. They will be staying at Hotel Le Meridian, on the outskirts.
The final One-Dayer is a sold-out day-night encounter. Many could not get tickets on-line and there was a voice of disgruntlement among many fans. Though some high denomination tickets are still available on bookmyshow website, all other tickets have been lapped up by cricket lovers of the city.

India have already won the 5-match series with three straight victories over the Aussies at Chennai, Kolkata and Indore.
On match day, VCA, in association with city traffic police has arranged adequate parking areas near Jamtha stadium on a 25-acre open land of Sharirik Shikshan Sanstha. This land is just one kilometer from the Jamtha T-Point.

After parking their vehicles, spectators can avail free mini bus facilities which will take the public to Jamtha T-Point and back.
As per a VCA press release, no four wheelers except with ‘Car Passes’ will be allowed on the right turn of the Jamtha T-Point. Only two wheelers will be parked on the left of the approach road leading to the stadium.

To ease the traffic and travel concerns of the spectators, VCA has arranged 20 buses (50 seater) from VCA Civil Lines to Jamtha and back. The bus service will start at 10 am from Civil Lines stadium. Valid ticket holders can use the bus service free of cost. Two ‘Ladies Special’ buses are included in this service.

Further, NMC will also run the ‘Aapli Bus’ services from following city points: Sitabuldi bus stop (40 buses), Jaripatka (2 buses), Pardi via Ayachit Mandir (2 buses), Koradi (2 buses), Dighori via Medical Square (2 buses).
Nagpur Police have made elaborate security arrangements. They have also asked the organisers to take necessary permissions from all “competent authorities”. The administration has already given its green signal to VCA to hold the match on October 1.
