N K Banchhor and Shahid Ahmed filed nominations on Friday for the posts of president and General Secretary for forthcoming Officers’ Association, BSP election, scheduled on October 13.


According to information, with filing of two nominations on Friday, N K Banchhor, AGM, Machine Shop III, BSP and K K Yadav, Senior Manager, PHD, Town Services Department, BSP are contesting for the post of president in the Officers’ Association election while Shahid Ahmed, AGM (Purchase), Material Management, BSP and Ramesh Babu, AGM, Water Management Department, BSP put forth their candidatures for the post of General Secretary. However, the lone candidature of Sandeep Gurwa, Junior Manager, Coke Oven, BSP was recorded for the post of Treasurer in the forthcoming election of Officers’ Association.


As many as 141 nomination forms were filed by aspirants so far for the scheduled Officers’ Association election. The aspirants would file nominations till the last date— October 4, and after scrutiny and candidature withdrawal on October 5 and 6, the final list of candidates for the forthcoming Officers’ Association election would be declared. The final list of candidates for the election would be released by Friday late evening. Among the aspirants, who collected nomination forms for the Officers’ Association election, 43 nominations forms were collected by the candidates aspiring to contest for the posts of Zonal Representatives.


About 2856 BSP executives would exercise their franchise in the forthcoming election as compared to 3200 in the last election; as the number of executives is fast declining after superannuation and due to the ongoing VRS scheme. Similarly, the candidature for 57 ZR posts would be received instead of 61 posts in the last election.
