Phase-I of Nagpur Metro to become functional from Nov

Maha Metro is gearing up to run Nagpur Metro from MIHAN Depot to New Airport on at-grade section of 5.6 kms from November-2017.

Dr Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director of Maha Metro inspected the on-going work along with battery of officers on Sunday. The Maha Metro is trying to run the Nagpur Metro between these two sections from November 2017, Dr Dixit said while talking to The Hitavada. He said, “We are working hard to complete all the formalities to run the train from November. We are also preparing to start Metro Rail service upto Sitabuldi by Mid 2018.”

The team of Research Designs and Standards Organisations (RDSO) from Lucknow will take a trial of Nagpur Metro in the second week of September. The team is working dawn to dusk for the success of the trial. The coaches of Metro Rail are running daily on this track and improve the fleet on regular basis. Hundreds of employees are working to fulfill the dream of every Nagpurian. The Metro also laid an overhead equipment from Mihan Depot to New Airport Station for the metro.

The Nagpur Metro team is taking all precautions to complete the track as per the requirement of RDSO. A petrol operated vehicle is also being used for inspection of railway track. The 70 percent work of Metro station has been completed by the team. The work of signaling and telecommunication is going on at full speed.

After getting nod from RDSO, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety will inspect the Nagpur Metro and Commercial Metro will give permission to operate the Metro Rail from MIHAN depot to New Airport station. The team of Metro is working 24x7 to complete the Herculean task.
