25 injured as speeding bus rams into stationary matador

AT LEAST 25 people sustained serious injuries on Monday morning between Laungur and Chikhlajhodi, around 11 kilometres from MOIL city Ukwa under Ukwa police post, when a speeding bus bound for Durg rammed into a stationary Matador (MH 32B 3653).


According to information, speeding by bus driver proved dear to 25 passengers who sustained serious injuries on Monday morning around 6 am. The mishap took place between Laungur and Chikhlajhodi. Soon after the mishap, panicked passengers started screaming and were offered help by villagers who rushed to the spot.


Police, on being informed, reached the spot along with Ambulance 108 and the injured passengers were taken to Balaghat District Hospital. On being informed, SHO Balaghat Pramod Sahu, SI Sharda Prasad Banotey, along with incharge Ukwa police post, Brajendra Singh Sengar and others also visited the spot of the accident.


Police reached the accident spot, carried out investigations and recorded the statements of the passengers and driver. The driver said due to early morning fog and sharp sunrays, he was unable to judge the Matador stationed on the road. Meanwhile a case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and further investigations are underway. The injured admitted in the district hospital are reported to be stable. The two vehicles, badly damaged in the mishap, have been seized by the police.
