The constructive and creative young minds gave a new look to the prominent places in the city. The students of the Department of Architecture, Manoharbhai Patel Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET), Gondia, took up the task to beautify the public places as part of Annual Design Competition (ANDC).

The ANDC is held countrywide for the students of Architecture every year by NASA (National Association of Students of Architecture, New Delhi). This year, the ANDC-2017 assigned the designing task of transforming the existing neglected public places of the town. They had to redesign the places and execute the proposals using low cost, sustainable materials and techniques. The MIET students choose five places of Gondia including Rajiv Gandhi Chowk (corner of Government Rest House in Railtoli), space under the new flyover at the busiest Nehru Chowk, footpath opposite Late Indira Gandhi Stadium, Jamnalal Bajaj Statue premises and open space at Mokshadham entrance.

They used waste material like tyres, bicycle rings, rope, iron rods, etc to change the look of the places. Though as part of their academics the students have shown the way to administration, these budding architects are being appreciated for their outstanding dedications and successful efforts.

The team of students was led by MIET NASA Unit Secretary Anuj Jaiswal and the participants were Gaurav Samrit, Komal Rawlani, Pankhudi Agrawal, Shyam Bindal, Nidhi Jain, Rohit Girhe, Aman Chourasia, Annu Shrivastav, Yamini Patle, Shivani Patle, Kinjan Chouhan, Rishika Jain, Arpita Chatterji, Anjali Gupta, Shriya Chandel, Shubham Banote, Sharon Hotchandani, Vidhi Chouhan, Rutika Agrawal and Pooja Agrawal.
