Staff Reporter,

Health Department spends lakhs of rupees on improving medical services at State TB Hospital, located at Idgah Hills, but the hospital is surrounded with heaps of garbage, shrubs, medical waste that is not good to the TB patients. Rains have increased woes of patients, they could not sit outside the hospital as usually sit in TB Hospital premises to get fresh air.
A senior doctor in TB Hospital pleading anonymity said that neither the hospital management has time to see sanitation arrangements nor the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) pays attention to sanitation at TB Hospital areas. Medical waste as syringe, vacant bottles of injections and other medical waste is also found near the hospital.

Dr Manoj Varma, who is Superintendent at State TB Hospital is it additional charge, he is district TB officer. It might be the reason why he could not pay attention on management of the hospital properly.

Sources at Directorate of Health said, the health department has shortage of medical specialists and even doctors to post permanent Superintendent at TB Hospital for improving its services. However, the health department is mulling over post permanent Superintendent at TB Hospital soon.

When contacted Dr Manoj Varma said, admitted of having medical waste around TB Hospital and there are shrubs in rains. Some other people might throw the medical waste near our hospital. For sanitation and lifting heaps of garbage, I have written to Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). Again I will write to BMC for the same, he said.
