The App, adivasivikasapp, once downloaded, also operates off line

A mobile application providing all the information about schemes and procedure to be followed has been launched by the Tribal Development Department. More than 10,000 persons have downloaded the App within a short period of about 20 days.

Talking to The Hitavada, Additional Tribal Commissioner, Nagpur Dr Madhavi Khode stated that the App (adivasivikasapp) has been developed to facilitate the residents of remote villagers to avail the benefits of various schemes of the department.

The App, once downloaded, also operates off line. Besides providing information about schemes, documents required and the person concerned to be contacted is also available on the App. Those who are working in the field, and the tribals themselves can get the information through this App. They will not be required to frequent the Tribal Development Office or any other related office for getting information.

Dr Khode stated that in the government set-up, the Talathi at village represents the Revenue Department and Gram Sevak represents Rural Development. They have information about their respective department. There is no one to provide information about the Tribal Development. The Gram Sevaks are not fully conversant with the schemes under Tribal Development Department. The App, therefore, would be of great help in informing people about the schemes. Information about the App was given to the villagers during village meetings on August 15.

The App is very easy to operate and with a click, the user gets all the information required. Fortunately, smart phones have reached most parts of the rural area.
The App has been developed with the initiative of Dr Khode, who has been working out on innovative ideas, so that the information can reach the tribals. Her efforts to ensure health care in Ashramshala has started yielding results. With this App, the tribals can get entire information about the schemes. For availing the benefits they can come to the office with all the required documents and complete the procedure in a single visit.

The App has been developed by Manish Karandikar of Jigyasa Research and Development Centre and is found to be very effective in spreading information among the villagers.
The organisations who are interested in working for generating awareness among tribals or are working for their
development, can register themselves with the Directorate of Information Technology to get detailed information updated from time to time.

Those availing services of the App, will not be required to search for the old Government Resolutions. The information can be made available through this App.
