During burglary Sabnani’s wife was watching KBC on ground floor

Burglars targeted house of a BJP leader Bhagwandas Sabnani located at Panchwati Colony under Koh-e-Fiza police station while family members were present in the house and made away with booty worth lakhs on Monday night. Sabnani had contested unsuccessfully against the present city Mayor Sunil Sood of Congress party in November 2004.

According to SHO of Koh-e-Fiza police station, complainant Bhagwandas Sabnani (52) resides at house no 109, Park no 3 in Panchwati Colony. On Monday between 9 and 9:30 pm, he had gone to attend Ganesha Mahotsav at Berasia Road while his wife at the home watching Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) on television on the ground floor of home.

Thieves barged on the first floor of house and decamped with cash, gold and silver ornaments worth rupees several lakhs. The exact amount is not mentioned in the FIR and it would be disclosed later.
At around 9:30 pm during a commercial break, Sabnani’s wife heard some noise from the first floor.
Realising the fact, she immediately informed her husband over the phone but till the time Sabnani reached home, the thieves had escaped from the spot.

Later, when the couple went at the first floor, they found household items ransacked in their bedroom and gold mangalsutra, 6 pairs of finger rings, gold ear rings and other gold and silver ornaments along with cash kept in the almirah were found missing after which the matter was reported to police.

In the CCTV footage of Sabnani’s home, two persons were spotted committing theft in the house. Subsequently, based on house owner’s complaint a case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC and search has been intensified to nab thieves.
