Tearful farewell to Lord Ganesha

The awe-inspiring traditional Lord Ganesh immersion rally was taken out from Corporation Square with fervour and zeal on Tuesday evening.


A number of Lord Ganesha idols of different Ganeshotsav committees were displayed in the rally. The Lord Ganesha idols of Ankur Yuva Sansthan Badi Omti, Ganeshotsava committee of Kotwali, Ganeshotsava committee of Sarafa and others participated in the Lord Ganesha immersion rally. The rally started at 7 am from Corporation Square, passed through Malviya Square, Bada Phuhara, Kamaniya, Ghodanakkas to culminate at Hanumantal, where Lord Ganesha idols were immersed by the devotees.

Earlier, the Lord Ganesha immersion rally was formally inaugurated with performing of pujan at Corporation Square by Anand Mohan Pathak and local public representatives. The eye-catching Lord Ganesha idols, devotees dancing to the tune of Bhajan, decorative lighting, Band Party presenting melodious Bhajans, etc. were the main attractions of the religious procession.

The enthusiasm of the devotees was worth watching. The devotees bid tearful adieu to Lord Ganesha. The immersion of Lord Ganesha idols continued till late night. Many devotees with smaller Lord Ganesha idols also participated in the rally for immersion of idols. Different devotees with smaller idols also carried out smaller rallies individually for immersion of Lord Ganesha idols to Gwarighat, Adhartal, Jabalpur lake Ranjhi, Gullaua pond Garha and other ponds of sub urban areas.

In view of appeal of environmentalists, many Ganeshotsava committees and devotees got their Lord Ganesha idols immersed in the artificial tanks at the pandals. Whereas some devotees also immersed their Lord Ganesha idols in the big earthen pots to plant saplings. The social and religious organisations accorded warm welcome to the rally on the route of religious procession.
The police had made tight security arrangements on the spot and along the route of rally.
