2 held for duping tourists thru fake forest website

The Madhya Pradesh Police’s Cyber Cell Police on Wednesday arrested two accused involved in duping money from tourists through duplicate website of Forest Department. Accused were nabbed from Chhattisgarh and a computer used in the fraud was recovered from their possession.


Police said that after a complaint was made by MPonline Limited regarding duping of victims in the name of facilitating visits in tiger reserves, investigation was conducted and two accused were nabbed. Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, police found that the fake website was operated by two miscreants who are based in Chhattisgarh and nabbed the two accused who were identified as Ashutosh Dewangan and Shailesh Sanwaria.


The accused have made safari-mp.online which was a similar to the Forest Department’s registered website-forest.mponline.gov.in. They would ask the victims to deposit money for providing different tourist packages.
The two confessed that after the victim would provide information and after providing the information they were provided with a mobile number to be contacted and contact person’s name was provided as Sunil Yadav.


Later, when the victim would contact Shailesh would talk with the victim posing as Sunil and would offer package for tiger
reserve visit. Ashutosh owns Sympact Technology firm in Bilaspur while Shailesh used to dupe the customers using fake website made by Ashutosh’s firm. The accused have been brought to the city and details of their crime record would be searched in the further investigation. Police have facilitated to freeze the bank account of Shailesh during the investigation and in the further investigation number of victims and money duped would be investigated.
