The farmers have been complaining about the leakage from a VIDC dam at village Sonegaon since long. However till date VIDC failed to take any steps to plug the leakage leading to losses to farmers as the water streamed into their farms.
Angry at the apathy shown by the VIDC, the farmers took-up the matter with Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatna local leaders. The Sanghatna too gave representations to local irrigation department officials and demanded that farmers be compensated for losses.

However typical of Government Department, nothing happened forcing farmers to adopted aggressive stance.

They insisted on being compensated by VIDC alleging that the irrigation department failed to plug the fault.
