N Baijendra Kumar assumes charge as CMD of NMDC Limited

N Baijendra Kumar, a 1985 batch IAS officer of Chhattisgarh Cadre, today assumed charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited. Prior to joining NMDC, Kumar was holding the post of Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh as well as Commerce and Industries and Energy Departments in the State Government of Chhattisgarh. It is worth mentioning here that the Chhattisgarh government had relieved him from the charge of Additional Chief Secretary on Tuesday.

Kumar, during his service tenure of over 32 years, held various important positions. He headed the Administration of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. He was the chairman of Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) and Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB). He has worked extensively in the field of Forest and Environment and Housing.

He also has rich and varied experience in Administration, Public Relations, Information and Broadcasting both at Centre and at State Level. He had been instrumental in streamlining numerous projects of Chhattisgarh Government. He represented India in many International Conferences. On August 31, the Central government had appointed him as CMD NMDC.

Soon after being relieved from Chhattisgarh, Kumar reached the NMDC’s head-quarter at Hyderabad and took charge as its CMD. Soon after taking charge as CMD, he chaired and informal meeting of officials and sought information about the administrative working and technical information of the company.

Later talking to mediapersons, Kumar said NMDC’s major projects are undergoing in Chhattisgarh and it is a priority area for this Navaratna company. He said he will do his level best to execute mission of Government of India in the best possible manner. He said he will try to take the Navratna company to take NMDC to new heights of excellence.
