GCF employee electrocuted

Safety measures at Gun Carriage Factory(GCF) for its employees got exposed on Thursday morning around 9.30 am when one employee, who resumed his duty in crane maintenance, suffered massive shock and by the time he was brought to Satpula government hospital, the medical staff declared the employee dead.


According to information, sensation prevailed in GCF on Thursday morning around 9.30 am when one employee, who resumed his duty working for crane maintenance, was severely electrocuted after he came in contact with live electric circuit. The man, after being electrocuted, fell on the ground and became unconscious, causing panic among fellow factory employees, who reached the spot and found the man senseless. Accordingly, the man was rushed to Satpula government hospital by fellow factory employees. At the Government hospital, the medical staff, who examined the man, declared him brought dead.


On being informed, police reached the hospital, carried out investigations, made panchnama and referred the body for autopsy to Medical College and Hospital. At the time of making of panchnama, the deceased factory employee was identified as Harsh Pillai(54), resident of Sethi Nagar, Gupteshwar. The deceased was serving in the GCF for the last 32 years.


After the autopsy was performed, the body was handed over to the family members of the deceased. The premature death of Pillai was mourned by his fellow factory employees, who expressed serious anguish over safety measures in the factory.
