Women’s Congress take out candle light march

Women Congress took out candle light march to protest the cold blood murder of Bengalore based woman journalist Gauri Lankesh and demanded CBI probe into the case on Thursday evening. State President of Women Congress, Mandavi Chauhan led the demonstration.


Women Congress workers were carrying candles in their hands and many of them were carrying out posters on which slogans demanding fair probe in Gauri Lankesh murder case were written. State President of Women Congress, Mandavi Chauhan carried the photo of Gauri Lankesh in one hand and carried candle in another hand. Some senior Congress leaders were also part of demonstration.


The demonstrating women Congress workers started candle march from Roshanpura square and went till Top-N-Town square and later returned to Roshanpura.
Later, talking to “The Hitavada” State President of Mahila Congress, Mandavi Chauhan expressed her anguish over the sensational murder of woman journalist Gauri Lankesh.
“ It is fourth murder of a scribe in just few months in country. We demand immediate arrest of accused in Gauri Lankesh case and demands capital punishment for them. We also demand CBI probe into the case,” she told.


She said media is fourth pillar of constitution and it is being attacked for exposing the corrupt practices and efforts are being made to suppress its voice. The murder of woman journalist Gauri Lankesh is a matter of shame for entire nation as well.


She also informed that some senior Congress leaders like district president PC Sharma, senior Congress leader Ashok Jain Bhaba and many more male workers of party took part in the demonstration.
Notably, recently, unknown accused shot dead woman journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bangalore. This incident has created waves across the country.
