Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India (GoI), on Friday issued a notification confirming the Indian Police Service (IPS) award to three more State Police Service (SPS) cadre officers of 1995-batch of Chhattisgarh Police. The three SPS cadre officers awarded IPS includes M R Ahire, Arvind Kujur and Shankar Lal Baghel. However, now only six SPS officers 1995 batch are left for IPS award.

Official sources in Administration Branch of Police Head Quarters (PHQ) told The Hitavada that the Departmental Promotions Committee (DPC) meeting to this effect was held on July 18 in New Delhi. The meeting chaired by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Chairman was also attended by one representative each from MHA and Central Police Organisation (CPO), Chhattisgarh Government Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home) and Director General of Police.

“The meeting recommended to award IPS award to aforesaid three SPS officers of Chhattisgarh, who belong to 1995 batch,” the sources averred. However, according to the sources, there is no official word, whether all the three officers, would get fresh postings even as Ahire just three days ago was posted as SP Bijapur. On the other hand, Arvind Kujur is presently serving as SP Economic Offences Wing (EoW) and Shankar Lal Baghel is Commandant of Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) 9th Battalion in restive Dantewada.
