CM appeals people to avail facility of National Lok Adalat on Sept 9

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, on Friday, appealed to all the people in the State to take advantage of the National Lok Adalat to be held on September 9, in all the courts of the State. The litigants who are involved in various cases should get their grievances redressed during the National Lok Adalat, which is being held on the directive of National Legal Service Authority. Over 14,000 cases earmarked for hearing during the National Lok Adalat in Raipur.

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that litigants lose a lot of precious time and hard-earned money in making rounds of the courts regarding various cases. Lok Adalats are conducted to redress the cases in an efficient and time-bound manner. No court fees are charged and no additional expenditure is involved. The fees already paid are also returned to the petitioners. Pre-litigation cases also are resolved in Lok Adalats.

Dr Raman Singh added he hoped that large number of litigants will benefit from the Lok Adalat on September 9. It may be mentioned here that Lok Adalats will be held on this date all over the country. It is a medium that provides speedy and cheap justice much to the relief of litigants. It is also an alternative to resolve the cases through compromise.

The courts at the tehsil and district-level hold Lok Adalats on a particular date every month. As a part of it National Lok Adalats are being conducted on the said date. On the directive of National Legal Service Authority, National Lok Adalats will be held in Raipur as well on September 9. 

Accordingly, civil cases and criminal cases which can be solved under mutual understanding will be taken up for hearing and will be disposed off on the same day. Preparations in this direction which was taking place since last two months under the guidance of Raipur District and Sessions Judge Neelam Chand Sankhla who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Raipur. All designated courts had sorted out cases fit for National Lok Adalat and had called meetings of stake holders so that cases can be solved through mutual understanding.
