IMMENSE ETHIC

THE description of the Indian cricket team by Sri Lanka’s Interim Coach Nic Pothas as a squad ‘with immense work ethics’ is one of the finest compliments the team can ever expect to get. That it has come from a rival coach whose team has just lost all the nine matches in a tour, should mean something tremendously important for the Indian cricket team headed by Captain Virat Kohli.

The term ‘immense work ethics’ can have multiple dimensions. The sum total of all those can be that it is one team in which everybody is completely committed to the individual task at hand and also to the collective goal a team has set for itself. Winning may not be the only issue, then, in such conditions. For, what matters more than winning is the manner of winning.

In any game, a victory or defeat can be terribly narrow, as if by a whisker. Yet, the last-minute puffing and panting to victory does not mean anything less. What matters most is the unwavering commitment to excellence brooking no compromise on quality. It is in this area that the Indian cricket team tops.

GOOD JOB

THE Uttar Pradesh Government has done well to free more than 8,000 hectares of Government land from grabbers’ grip, as part of a Statewide campaign undertaken by the Yogi Adityanath Government in the past some time. The UP Government had identified more than  20,000 hectares of Government land in the category of encroachment, and could initiate successful action to liberate 8,000-plus hectares from the clutches of encroachers and land-grabbers.

This success was achieved through an Anti-Land Mafia Task force, which was one of the election promises of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has followed up doggedly to fulfill that election promise and achieve a greater control of situation. In fact, such a success can be achieved anywhere in the country if the Administration gets tough and ruthless. In fact, it is a national need since countless lakhs of hectares of Government land either has been encroached up or grabbed. The UP Government has shown the way to conducting a successful campaign.
