Lucky wins bronze at Sr Asian Rowing Championship for first time

Madhya Pradesh Water Sports academy player Lucky has won bronze medal at senior Asian Rowing Championship 2017. Rowing player Lucky in light weight category won this medal at coxless four event. This is for the time that any MP player from water sports academy has won any medal in Asian Rowing Championship. In coxless four women rowing player Sona Kheer and Rukmani team remained in 6th position and in quadruple scull event academy player Mangal Singh and Bhanupratap Singh secured 7th position.

MP player has been selected for Asian Rowing Championships 2017 which was organised at Pattaya, Thailand. Asian Rowing Championship was held from September 4 to September 8. In Asian Rowing Championship total 13 girls and 9 boys participated from India. From Madhya Pradesh Water Sports academy four boys and two girls participated in the events and exhibited their brilliant performance in various sports categories including quadruple scull, coxless four event etc.

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated players for wining in the championship and brining laurel to the country. Sports and Youth Welfare Director Upendra Jain also encouraged the players and asked them to give their best performances in future too. It has to be noted that these players were trained under coach Dalbeer Singh Rathore and got a special training at Hyderabad before the championship.

It has to be noted that MP Water Sports academy has made every effort is given to support sports person and also strategy is being chalked out to enhance sports activities in the region. The sports academy is focused to provide training which fits into parameters of international standards. This year Madhya Pradesh with 23 points won the overall championship trophy of the 35th Senior National Rowing Championship that was held at Upper Lake in Bhopal. MP won 12 medals, including two gold and seven silver medals, in the championship in events.
