In an unprecedented gesture for communal peace and harmony between Hindus and Muslims, a Muslim youth renovated the Hanuman Temple which was in pathetic condition since seven years. Seven years back, a speedy truck rammed into the old Hanuman Temple, which is located in Ward 14 of Akaltara Municipal Council, due to which the temple got damaged. As the temple priest was going through financial crisis, he expressed his inability to repair the temple and continued to offer prayers in the damaged temple. Even the local people of this ward did not extend help to repair the temple, though they continued to offer prayers at the damaged temple.

Setting an example of communal brotherhood and peace in society, a Muslim youth Tanveer Alam decided to repair the temple at his own expenses. “Every day, I used to see stray animals sitting in front of the temple. Unfortunately, this never irked any devotee who visits temple to offer prayers, but I felt very bad. People offer prayers and return to their home without showing any concern towards condition of temple which is in pitiable condition since seven years. One day I decided to repair this temple from my own expenses. It is not that easy as even I belong to poor family, but my poverty doesn’t matter to me. Every day, I come to the temple and also bring construction material along with myself and repair the temple as much as I can. I know it will take time, but soon the construction will get over,” said Tanveer.

A large number of people have been thronging the place ever since Muslim youth started renovating temple. People of Hindu and Muslim committees are appreciating the gesture and initiative of youth that aim towards maintaining peace and harmony between two communities.
