Staff Reporter,

Dense fog in Delhi forced diversion of three Delhi-bound flights to Nagpur on Sunday. Due to fog, 40 flights were diverted to different airports in the country. The three flights diverted to Nagpur included Guangzhou (China) to Delhi (India) flight CZ3027, Dubai-Delhi flight, and a flight of GoAir.

After the visibility in Delhi improved by afternoon, these flights took off for Delhi. Fog also led to delay in flights landing at Nagpur. Delhi-Nagpur Jet Air flight arrived five hours late, IndiGo flight from Delhi reached Nagpur two-and-a-half hours late, flight from Pune arrived at Nagpur three hours late.

Besides, the flight from Bengaluru reached Nagpur one-and-a-half hours late, Mumbai-Nagpur flight reached Nagpur one-and-a-quarter hours late. Jet Air’s 4.45 pm flight from Delhi was cancelled. The China Southern’s CZ3027 Guangzhou (China) to Delhi (India) flight got diverted to Nagpur.

The diversion panicked some passengers. A passenger Lokesh Vasudevan tweeted, “Have been travelling for more than 20 hours and now stuck on board with no clue. Awaiting some direction from @CBEC_India to allow us disembark. AAI to initiate action. Aged passengers, mothers and kids suffering inside the aircraft. Not allowed to disembark for over an hour now. What a way to celebrate the NYE2018. Need some help!” He tagged Prime Minister’s Office, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Later, he tweeted that the flight had reached safe to Delhi.
