Body of a city youth was found near Saunsar in Lodhikheda Police Station area of Chhindwara district. The cops are suspecting involvement of two to three persons in the murder and have reportedly detained one person in this connection.

Deceased Atul Ramesh Daharwal (31), a resident of Subhash Putala, Satranjipura, was trading in tiles, and supplying them to shops in Nagpur and neighboring districts. He was also an active member of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).

Villagers noticed the body of Atul in the jungles near Lodhikheda at around 9 pm on Monday.
The police did not disturb the body so as to keep the forensic evidence intact.

Team of Forensic Experts arrived at the spot on Tuesday morning. The cops searched the nearby area to collect evidence so as to get a clue. The assailants had smashed Atul’s head with boulders. The accused seem to have dragged the body for few a metres, as there were bruises on the dead body.

However, the police did not find anything else at the spot. The body was identified on the basis of a bill of tiles recovered from pocket of the deceased.
The body was sent to hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his family at Nagpur.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Chhindwara, Gaurav Tiwari informed The Hitavada that the case was being investigated from various angles. We have procured call data records of the deceased which would help in investigation,” said Tiwari. An officer from Lodhikheda police station informed that a person -- Shiva -- was detained and is being interrogated in this matter.

According to information, Atul left his house on Monday at 3.30 pm. He had probably gone with one person named Shiva, his close friend. His family members attempted to call him but his phone was switched off since then.
A pall of gloom descended on the Daharwal family after news of the murder reached the city. A large number of family members, relatives and friends attended the funeral. Father of Atul is working as the property dealer. He leaves behind mother, a younger brother and elder sister.

Atul was to marry next month

Atul’s marriage was recently fixed and it was scheduled for February 7 and preparation for the marriage were in full swing. Shrikant Aglawe, senior BJP leader, informed that Atul was staunch supporter and active member of BJYM. He was quite dashing and also affable and hence his friends are shocked as to who could murder him.
