Purohit meets Modi, Kovind in Delhi

A DAY after making his maiden address to the joint session of State Assembly at Chennai, the Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in New Delhi on Tuesday.


Purohit also paid a courtesy visit to the President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan later in the day. During this courtesy calls, Purohit presented Modi and Kovind with a shawl and a memento. Notably, the Tamil Nadu Governor, during his address to the State Assembly a day ago, had demanded financial assistance of Rs 4,854 crore from the Central Government towards restoration and rehabilitation work in the State hit by cyclone Ochki last month. He had also urged the Modi to visit the State in the wake of this natural disaster in his address.
