Sitabuldi cops recover 37 mobile phones, eight laptops from robbers

Sitabuldi police have recovered stolen valuables worth Rs six lakh including 37 stolen mobile phones, eight laptops, six bags and gold ornaments of Rs two lakh from three robbers who were targeting parked cars to steal valuables from inside. The court remanded the accused to two-days police custody for custodial interrogation.

Arrested accused are identified as Jitendra Ratan Ramteke (38), a resident of Panchasheel Nagar, MIDC; Mohd Sarik Mohd Yunus (26), a resident of Ganjipeth, Ganeshpeth and Gangaprasad Bhavar Verma (39), a resident of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone II Rakesh Ola informed that Ramteke was an auto-rickshaw driver while Verma was living on footpath near Railway Station and stealing valuables of train passengers sleeping in the corridor of railway station. Ramteke had noticed Verma’s act of theft and then both become friends and started robberies. Verma was resident of a village near Bhopal. He was used to come Nagpur to commit robberies with Ramteke while Sariq helped the accused in disposing the stolen valuables, informed DCP Ola. As incidents of bag lifting from parked cars increased in last three months, the Sitabuldi police had activated informers and deployed men in pain clothes. The accused were caught by the police red-handed while breaking windshield of a car, claimed DCP Ola. Seized valuables will be return to owners soon.

The arrest was made by ACP Rajendra Borawake, PI Hemantkumar Kharabe, PI S T Parmar, PSI A V Bakal, PSI S B Kale and staff including Ajay Kale, Gajanan Nishitkar, Kamlesh Ganer, Pankaj Nikam, Prakash Rajpalliwar, Ankush Ghati, Pankaj Ramteke, Atul Chate and others.
