2 alert constables save woman attempting suicide in Lower Lake

A 24-year-old woman jumped into Lower Lake to end her life was saved by alertness of two police constables posted at Talaiya Police Station on Thursday morning. Following her recovery, the woman was rushed to Hamidia Hospital for treatment as in her suicide bid, water get into her lungs causing pain and discomfort as she breathe.

On the other hand, both the constables who were passing from the near spot and immediately followed the woman into the water to save her life after being informed by the eyewitnesses would be felicitated by DIG Santosh Kumar on Friday.

According to SHO of Talaiya, Manishraj Bhadauriya, the woman is identified as Suman, 24, daughter of Surendra Goswami, a resident of South TT Nagar. As per eyewitnesses Suman reached Lower Lake at around 9 am on Thursday. She was looking so much tensed and after roaming there for a while she jumped into the lake with intention to commit suicide.

The locals who were present at the spot then informed police and 108 ambulance. However, by the time, two constables, Rajan and Jitendra, posted at Talaiya police station were passing from the spot who were informed by the people present at the scene.

Making no delay, they jumped into Lower Lake and saved the life of young woman after which she was sent to Hamidia Hospital in 108 ambulance. Here the woman is kept on ventilator as during her suicide bid, water entered into her lungs and her statements couldn’t be taken by police as of now therefore the reason that prompted her to opt for such an extreme step couldn’t be known. After getting information about the incident, Suman’s mother also reached the hospital but she also expressed her ignorance over the reason due to which her daughter took this step.
