NMC seals shops over tax default

The staff of Market Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) sealed the shops in various parts of the city over default of user charges of municipal markets.
Eight licensees of Sataranjipura Zone Market, four licensees of Itwari Dhanya Bazar, one licensee of Itwari Loha Oli, one licensee of Itwari Kadbi Bazar, one licensee of Bhaji Mandi, and one licensee in Itwari Dhanya Otta were not depositing the user charges for a long time. After following the due procedure, Market Department staff of NMC initiated the action of eviction under Section 81 (B) (3) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act. The shops of two licensees were sealed and taken in possession of NMC.


Six licensees deposited user charges of Rs 4,62,608. The amount paid by various licensees is as follows: Kanhiyalal Kesharwani -- Rs 7,849, Natthuji Ramchandra Satpaise -- Rs 8,447, Bhairawprasad Ramkumar Shahu-- Rs 23,498, Laxmiben Wahabji Ubane -- Rs 24,441, Haribhau Kawale-- Rs 3,68,054, and Harinarayan Shivmangal Shahu -- Rs 30,319.
The licensee for the shops sealed and taken in possession of NMC was Bebibai Gonnade, states a press release issued by Market Department of NMC.


The action was conducted under the supervision of Sunil Rotke, Superintendent; by a team comprising Nandkishor Bhowate, Assistant Superintendent; Ramesh Shivankar, Inspector; Ashok Narnaware, Junior Inspector; Bhushan Bawankar, Hemraj Shindekar, Hawaldar; Gopal Manapure, Chowkidar, with employees of Enforcement Department of NMC.
