Staff Reporter,

The ‘Bhopal ki Choupal’-Mayor’s initiative for direct dialogue with residents, which later turned quarterly instead of weekly, witnessed deserted look on Monday. At the inaugural day of New Year, only 33 applicants turned up at the Choupal. City Mayor Alok Sharma skipped first session of this year’s Choupal as he was not present in the city.

In his absence, Bhopal Municipal Commissioner Priyanka Das along with other civic body officials were present in the Choupal and listened to the public grievances of people attending the Choupal.

BMC Commissioner Das assured that like past year, problems of applicants would be solved with pace in this year also. The applicants, who couldn’t provide documents needed along with their complaints, were given another chance to submit them in next hearing of Choupal.

On this occasion, Additional Commissioner V K Chaturvedi, M P Singh, Archana Sharma and Sudha Bhargava along with MiC member Krishnamohan Soni and anti-encroachment squad in-charge Kamar Shaqib were also present. However, in this hearing, the rush of people was very less and looking to the deserted look, BMC Commissioner and other civic body officials left the Choupal before the normal timing.
