Over 5 lakh farmers sell produce under Bhavantar

An amount of Rs 703 crore 96 lakh towards difference amount (Bhavantar Rashi) will be deposited in the bank accounts of these farmers in the current month

 

A total 5 lakh 12 thousand registered farmers sold their agriculture produce at support price to the traders in the authorised Krishi Upaj mandis between November 1 and 30, 2017 under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana. An amount of Rs 703 crore 96 lakh towards difference amount (Bhavantar Rashi) will be deposited in the bank accounts of these farmers in the current month. Earlier, under the scheme, 1.28 lakh registered farmers had sold their agriculture produce in the authorised mandis during the period October 16 to 31, 2017. A sum of Rs 136 crore 75 lakh towards difference amount has already been paid to these farmers by the State Government. Moreover, under the same scheme, the Government has extended the sale period of maize till January 31, 2018.


It may be mentioned that a total of 21 lakh 88 thousand 764 farmers have registered themselves under the scheme in the State. Total 41 lakh 43 thousand 389 hectare area has been covered under the scheme.


The payment of Bhavantar Rashi is being deposited directly in the bank accounts of the farmers under the Direct Benefit Transfer and information in this regard is being sent to the farmers through SMS on their mobile phones. Apart from the difference amount, the subsidy is also being given to the farmers for storing their produce in warehouses. Both the benefits are being provided together. The subsidy towards storing produce in the warehouses has been increased to Rs 9.90 per quintal from Rs 7.00.


Over 20 percent increase in produce arriving at mandis due to Bhavantar Yojana: Owing to the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana, the farmers got rid of ups and downs in the prices of agriculture produce in true sense. The statistics of 2016 and for the month of October and November, 2017 till now have shown this. Arrival of 31 lakh 65 thousand tonne produce, more than 20 percent has been registered in the mandis in the month of October 2017 in comparison to October, 2016 as a result of Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana,
which has also increased the income of the mandis.In the month of October and November 2017, the mandis have earned an income of Rs 91 crore 12 lakh and Rs. 122 crore 16 lakh respectively, 66 percent more in comparison to the income of November 2016.


The scheme has been implemented by activating 51 up-mandis in the State. Besides this, 20 haat-bazaars have also been made active for the implementation of the scheme.
