IN THE last few months the National Investigating Agency (NIA) has carried out massive investigation work against terrorists, their outfits, supporters, funds providers, handlers based in Pakistan and has come out with voluminous chargesheets in which among 12 people figure the names of Pakistan-based terror masterminds, Lashkar-e-Toiba chief Hafiz Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen head Syed Salahuddin. The over 12000-page chargesheet, submitted before the special NIA court in Delhi, is the product of meticulous investigations, which also highlights the role of Pakistani mission as the conduit for supplying money to fund terrorist activities and causing unrest in Jammu and Kashmir by preparing a well-planned ‘stone-pelting calendar’ to keep the State of Kashmir under perpetual spell of terror. Expectedly the terrorist and their supporters, who are under the custody of the NIA for the last few months, have questioned the jurisdiction of Delhi court in trying the case.

The court of course will take care of that in due course and pronounce its verdict in the matter. But the fact remains that the NIA has done a singular job in going to the root of the problem that dogged Jammu and Kashmir for several months after the killing of top terrorist commander Burhan Wani by the security forces. For those few months Jammu and Kashmir was kept boiling by paid stone-pelters funded by money coming from Pakistani terrorist organisations like Hafiz Saeed’s Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. The aim was clearly seditious against the Indian nation orchestrated by terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Syed Salahuddin.

Thus evil-minded people, with their minions based in Kashmir were carrying out the separatist agenda designed and put into practice by the Pakistani official establishment. It is, therefore, no surprise when Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says that there is no case against Hafiz Saeed and hence cannot be arrested. With the State itself using terror and its protagonists like Hafiz Saeed and Syed Salahuddin providing the needed terror infrastructure, it is futile to expect Pakistan to behave any differently. For Pakistan carrying out terrorist activities and fuelling separatist sentiments in neighbouring countries like India and Afghanistan is an official agenda. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the madarasas run by the likes of Hafiz Saeeds and Syed Salahuddins, indoctrinating young minds and preparing them for so called Jihad against neighbouring countries are no less than terror factories.

For the first time the US Administration under Mr. Donald Trump has taken a tough stance against Pakistan’s continued harbouring of terror organisations and refusal to dismantle their infrastructure. But Pakistan appears to have grown audacious and the reason for this audacity appears to be the Chinese factor. China appears to be going out of the way in its support to Pakistan in every which the way at various international fora. On a number of occasions China has opposed UN resolutions declaring Hafiz Saeed as a global terrorist.

Obviously, this all-weather friendship by China with Pakistan is born out of its self-serving geo-political interests through Pakistan. There are disturbing reports of China planning a military base in Pakistan. It is this support that China is providing that Pakistan appears to be unconcerned about the tough stance taken by the Trump Administration, including stoppage of military aid as China is expected to take care of that. In the light of this latest development the rest of the developed world cannot maintain reticent on the manner in which Pakistan is nurturing terror nurseries and China giving it a tacit support. There is need for making common cause against this unholy nexus.
