Vaso-Meditech Director and EECP expert Dr S Ramasamy congratulate Dr Pradip Patil for his role in creating a EECP treatment facility and reaching thousands of cardiac patients through camps, clinical education seminars and patients awareness programmes.

Enhanced external counter pulsation treatment is a non-invasive approved treatment for patients with coronary artery blockages and poor heart function. The treatment works by improving the blood supply to the heart muscle by forming new blood vessels.

EECP is a non-invasive procedure given as an outpatient therapy. Patients of angina/ coronary artery disease who have undergone repeated surgical interventions earlier, or cannot undergo surgery (bypass, angioplasty etc.) due to certain contra-indications or refuse surgery, may be advised to undergo this procedure. It is a means to stimulate the openings or formation of collaterals to create a natural bypass around narrowed or blocked arteries.

Procedure involves wrapping large cuffs around calves, thighs and buttocks which are sequentially inflated and deflated.
