Maudhapara Police nab three impostors posing as crime branch personnel

Moudhapara Police has arrested two youths who personated as to be from Crime Branch and relieved a road-lines collection worker of Rs 2 lakhs. The accused are identified as Mohd. Yunus, 29 years, who resided beside Suresh Sweets, KK Road, Moudhapara, and Zahid Khan, 29,who resided in front of mosque in the same locality.


The complainant in the case Mohanpuri Goswami, 23, had maintained that he works in Shrinivas Road Lines office and on December 31 last year, he was going to head office to deposit Rs 2 lakhs which he had collected.


While he was going on a motorcycle, two unknown persons came riding on an Activa bearing registration number CG 04 LT/1782 and halted him near the medical complex at Moudhapara.


The two persons introduced themselves as to be from crime branch and charged him that he was carrying illegal money. They asked him to come with them to police station or give money and took Rs 2 lakh which the complainant had kept in a bag. Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 419, which reads punishment for cheating by personation.


Acting on a tip off the investigating officer SR Chandravanshi, Sub Inspector, accompanied by other staff caught the accused. Police has seized the Activa used in committing the crime and also Rs 1.70 lakhs of the said amount which the accused had concealed in their house.
