Staff Reporter,

Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of Parliament (MP) from Bhandara-Gondia Nana Patole is all set to open his political cards on Thursday at Nagpur and according to sources he may formally announce his return to Congress-fold. Patole is also likely to announce his proposed 1,700 km long Padyatra touring entire length and breadth of Vidarbha.

Patole resigned as BJP MP last month and later campaigned against BJP in Gujarat and even dared a public dais with Congress President Rahul Gandhi. He also held parleys with Congress state in-charge Mohan Prakash and MPCC President Ashok Chavan. The Congress is keen to field Patole in the by-election, which is likely to be held as he submitted his resignation as Lok Sabha MP.

Patole had left the Congress in 2008 to join the BJP. During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP fielded him in Bhandara-Gondia constituency, where he defeated NCP stalwart Praful Patel.

Patole was unhappy with the BJP for quite some time and had been criticising senior leaders. He also publicly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis anticipating action against him. But BJP gave him a cold shoulder and left with no choice Patole had to quit.
