38 Gold medals will be conferred on 26 students including highest 5 medals will be given to Gagandeep Singh Saluja followed by four medals to Deepika Pandey.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda will be chief guest of Convocation and he will inaugurate the new university building in Naya Raipur

The second Convocation of Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial health Science and Ayush University Chhattisgarh, Raipur, will be organised at Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium here on January 7 after the long gap of four years. The first convocation of the university was organised in 2013 after it came into existence in 2008. As per schedule, the convocation will start at 11 am. Similarly, the new building of the university will be inaugurated at Dhamtari Road.

University Vice-Chancellor Dr G B Gupta on Thursday said that Gagandeep Singh Saluja will be honoured with the highest five gold medals followed by Deepika Pandey will be honoured with four gold medals. Similarly, Gunjan Saluja, Yashasvi Pandey, Hempushpa Chouhan, Asima Daniel and Priyanka Parida will receive two medals each. A total of 38 gold medals will be conferred on 26 students, said Dr Gupta. Similarly, 182 students of the university will be conferred degree/diploma during the convocation.

Union minister for health and family welfare J P Nadda will be chief guest of the convocation as well as building inauguration ceremony while Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Dass Tandon will preside over the convocation. Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh will be special guest on the occasion. Lok Sabha MP Ramesh Bais, State Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, State Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Chandrakar, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Prem Prakash Pandey, PWD Minister Rajesh Munat, MLA Shrichand Sundrani and MLA Satyanarayan Sharma will also grace the occasion.

Dr Gupta said that the university at present has 9 medical colleges affiliated to it followed by 6 Dental colleges, 6 Ayurvedic, 95 Nursing, two Physiotherapy, one Unani and one Naturopathy Centre. Around 26,500 students are studying in these colleges affiliated to the university, Dr Gupta added. Speaking about the new building of the university coming up near HNLU in Naya Raipur, Dr Gupta said that the university will have 3 blocks which will be inaugurated by the Union Minister on January 7.
