Irregularities exposed in raid at E-Tech Projects Ltd

Senior officials from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Chhattisgarh Pollution Control Board and Regional Manager and his team on Thursday raided E-Tech Projects Pvt. Ltd situated at Chhaoni. The team was there for around three hours and detected many irregularities in the company that details in disposing of bio medical waste.

The ETP plant as not functioning, the rooms were filled with dust, the weighing machine was out of order and the polluted water was directly released without any treatment.
Several anomalies were detected by chief inspector RP Mishra from Bhopal in the dispatch register also.

Also present with Mishra were scientist, Ajay Gedam from CGPCB, Lakda, Badopadhyay, BS Thakur and others associates along with Regional Manager, AC Amlu. Here it needs a mention that the residents of Chhaoni irked with the smoke being emitted by Bio Medical Waste Company gheraoed the regional office of Chhattisgarh Environment Board at Sector-8 Bhilai last month. They shouted slogans against the administration for not taking any action against the industries that are polluting the environment.

The resident led by Chhattisgarh Swabhiman Party met with Regional Environment Officer, AC Malu and handed over a memorandum and demanded not to renew the license of E-Tech Projects Pvt. Ltd that is completing in January 2018 and also for its closure. They also reprimanded that if NOC is issued in behalf of the company they will raise massive agitation against this. On the other hand the officer assured to take action that is beneficial for public and said that a report will be prepared as per their demand and forwarded to the government.

The inspection by the officials from Environment Board conducted at E-Tech Projects Pvt. Ltd on Thursday was the outcome of this complaint made by the residents of Chhaoni. The demonstrators complained the officer that the company has no ESP and so during the disposal of bio waste in the plant the dark and black smoke settle downs in nearby houses.
