2 uniformed Ultras including woman cadre killed in exchange of fire

TWO uniformed ultras including a woman cadre were on Friday gunned down in an Exchange of Fire (EoF) between the security forces and rebels in a forest-dominated area under Gangaloor Police Station limit in restive Bijapur district. ASP (Anti-Naxal Ops), Bijapur, Mohit Garga informed that the skirmish took place at around 7.30 am in Muduvandi-Kawadgaon forest axis when a joint team of security forces belonging to 204th battalion of Combat Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Gangaloor police team was out on an anti-Maoist operation.

While the combing operations were under way, a group of armed insurgents indiscriminately opened fire on security forces on Friday morning, informed the ASP. Following which, the brave-hearts took position and launched retaliatory attack that forced Naxals to flee from the spot within an hour.During the post-encounter search, two slain ultras including a female ultra clad in “uniform” were found dead at the spot.

The personnel also recovered from the spot a.303 rifle, a .12 bore gun and one country-made pistol. The slain naxals were yet to be identified. Further details were awaited till the report last.

Three Jan Militia members arrested in Sukma

ALERT security personnel arrested three Jan Militia members during a joint search operation carried out in areas falling under Phulbagdi and Dornapal police station limits. According to police sources, a joint squad of the District Force, District Reserve Guard and Chhattisgarh Armed Force was patrolling in areas under Phulbagdi and Dornapal police station limits on Thursday. While the forces were passing through a forested patch, they spotted three suspects, who were trying their escape. The personnel nabbed them after a brief chase.

According to police sources, the arrested cadres have been identified as Kalmu Deva, son of late Kalmu Joga (32) of Karkapara, Gandharpara under Phulbagdi police station limits, Kalmu Deva, son of Kalmu Nanda (22), a resident of Karkapara, Gandharpara under Phulbagdi police station limits and Padam Ganga, son of Padam Deva (24), a resident of Madopara under Phulbagdi police station limits. These were involved in several criminal activities for which cases against them were registered with the respective police stations. They were produced in Sukma court after arrest. Till the report last came in, the ultras were sent to jail.

 

Huge arms recovered from encounter site

Huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from an encounter site on Wednesday. The scuffles between security forces and Naxalites took place between Kodapakha and Enhur under Durgukondal police station limit. The weapons included SLR 4, sutli bomb 4, AK-47 3, country-made revolver 1, 3.2 mm 4 and daily need items. The troopers of 175th Battalion of BSF thwarted the nefarious designs of Red rebels. Superintendent of Police K L Dhruv confirmed the encounter.
