Durga Temple broken in, valuables stolen

AN UNIDENTIFIED person broke into a temple and took away jewellery and other valuables worth Rs 90,000 from Durga Mandir in Shankar Nagar Suhagi under jurisdiction of Adhartal police station in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. According to Adhartal police, a man named Shekhar Shrivastava (35), a resident of Shankar Nagar, Suhagi, filed a complaint that he along with other residents regularly worship at Durga Temple in the area.

Early on Friday morning, he reached the temple where the priest, Rampati Kushwaha, informed that an unidentified person had targeted the temple and taken away 5 big and small silver umbrellas and three crowns from idols of deities worth over Rs 90,000. Learning about the incident, a police team reached the spot and started investigations into the case with the help of sniffer dog and fingerprint expert.

Acting on the complaint, Adhartal police have registered a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
