Mayor holds discusses on cleanliness with SHG members

Mayor Dr Swati Godbole on Friday held discussion on cleanliness with women office-bearers of over 1,000 self-help groups (SHGs) during a programme organised under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Manas Bhawan. On the occasion, the Mayor constituted Women Cleanliness Brigade and also bestowed responsibility of spreading message of cleanliness and encouraging people for the same to women.

Dr Godbole also administered oath of cleanliness to 180 women rag pickers and provided them Identity Card, uniform and two types of dust bins. She said the women are helping a lot the Municipal Corporation in creating public awareness under Swachhata Abhiyan. They are ensuring active participation in making the city clean. In future these women rag pickers would be bestowed the responsibility of keeping city gardens clean. She further said the civic body would make Jabalpur a cleanest city with due support of every section of the society including women engaged in rag picking occupation. Later, Municipal Commissioner, Vedprakash, Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Singh, Executive Engineer, Ajay Sharma, office bearer Woman and Child Development, Sanjana Chouksey and others also expressed their views on the occasion. They shed light on vital role of self help groups in maintaining cleanliness.

On the occasion all women were provided with two types of dust bins and were urged to keep the same at their dwellings. The women were also requested to keep liquid and solid waste separately in the dust bins. The representatives of self help group on the occasion took pledge of maintaining cleanliness in their houses and localities. They would also encourage people for the same.It may be noted that a JMC is toiling hard to maintain proper cleanliness in the city. It is carrying out a number of programmes and taking support of people of every section of the society in making the city no. 1 in cleanliness under Swachh Survekshan 2018. NULM Office bearer, Manjula Gotia conducted the proceeding of the programme and also proposed a vote of thanks.
