Charan Das Mahant appointed as Chairperson of Election Campaign Committee

 

All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Saturday removed Kota MLA Dr Renu Jogi, wife of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, from the post of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Deputy Leader. Congress has replaced Dr Renu Jogi with Konta MLA Kawasi Lakhma as CLP Deputy Leader. Ambikapur MLA T S Singhdeo will continue to be the CLP leader.


Patan MLA Bhupesh Baghel continues as CPCC President and Congress would go in for assembly elections-2018 under his leadership. Playing a balance of caste and region, Congress has appointed two CPCC Working Presidents namely Ram Dayal Uike and Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya. AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi informed that AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi approved the names of the CPCC President, two Working Presidents, CLP Leader and Deputy CLP Leader along with Disciplinary Committee, Communication Department of the CPCC.

Rahul Gandhi also approved forthcoming assembly election related five committees of the CPCC.
Former Union Minister of State Dr Charan Das Mahant has been appointed the Chairperson of the Election Campaign Committee. Bhupesh Baghel has been appointed the Chairman of the Pradesh Election Committee. Ravindra Choubey has been given the responsibility of the Chairman of Planning and Strategy Committee. Bodhram Kanwar has been appointed as the Chairman of Disciplinary Committee. Shailesh Nitin Trivedi has been appointed as the Chairman of the Communication Department. T S Singhdeo has been appointed as the Chairman of Election Manifesto Committee.


Congress has appointed senior Congress tribal leader Kawasi Lakhma, belonging to Bastar region, as Deputy CLP leader. Tribal leader and Pali-Tanakhar MLA Ramdayal Uike, who raised the issue of tribal leadership in the state Congress organization, and Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya, belonging to scheduled caste has been appointed as the Working Presidents of the CPCC to balance caste equation.
It appears that the congress is trying to strike a balance in the organization before making the final assault. The party has tried to give representation to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe in the organisation.


With the constitution of the five assembly election related committees, the Congress has geared up preparations for the assembly elections.
