Far from lost, author Vilas Kale is a man on a mission. A mission to advocate and encourage everyone to go out, and explore the wonders of the world. Having found lessons of life is his far and wide travels, lessons that have held him in good stead through and through, Vilas Kale gives a big thumbs to best investment of one’s life - travelling.


Having visited a staggering 88 countries till date and counting, Vilas by force of habit has kept a detailed account of each of his travels in a diary. One such account has found its way to a delightful book, ‘It Was A Happy Trusting World, Then’, published by Crossword. Chronicling the awe-inspiring journey of one youngster and two teens from Nagpur to Europe and back, in 1971, the book details the three-month hitchhike through 15 countries and the out of the world experiences of the trio.


The launch of Vilas Kale’s book was held at Crossword’s, on Saturday. Much like the man of the hour, the book launch was a charming affair with much laughter and heartwarming vibes. Advocate Anand Jaiswal, President Vidarbha Cricket Association was also present on the occasion and reviewed the book. Speaking highly of the earnest account, Anand Jaiswal was full of praise for the revolutionary idea of Vilas Kale, something which was beyond most 46 years ago.

It’s a must-read for anyone who wants to travel and even those who don’t as it offers a tantalising sneak-peek into the beauties of the world, encouraging one and all to pack a bag and fly!” Kale has fond memories of one of the best journeys of his life and swears by hospitality and humanity of the people back then.
