12th Blind Challenge car rally to be organised on January 14

ARUSHI, association working for visually impaired is going to organise ‘12th Blind Challenge Car Rally 2018’ on January 14. It is a rally where the vehicles are driven by a sighted person and the navigator is a blind person, the route map in Braille will be given to them on the spot.


Navigators for the rally are from all over Madhya Pradesh. A briefing will also be organised on January 13 where drivers can meet the navigators. Dr Rohit Trivedi visually impaired person said that this rally is organised to generate awareness about potential of visually impaired persons.


The rally usually covers 30 km distance within the Bhopal Municipal limits. The route of the rally will be managed by Management Group Genius. Throughout the route all road safety norms and speed limits will be strictly followed. The rally also includes vintage cars and are also point of attraction during the rally. Rally’s will route through roads of MP Nagar, Satpura-Vindyachal, Thandi Sadak, Shivaji crossing, Nutan College, Bittan Market, Manisha Market, Rohit Nagar, JK Hospital, Kaliasot Dam, Manoria Hospital, Akshay Hospital, Pranami Mandir, Mata Mandir, Depot Chauraha and end at IGRMS. En route are check points to ensure, no-one drives fast, and all traffic rules are strictly followed.


Competitors finishing with minimum penalty points are declared winners. There is one penalty point for each minute delay and 5 penalty points on entering one minute early at the check points. The prizes includes cash prize and gifts to winners and navigators. Prizes are given in expert category and novice category.


From last eleven years this unique car rally is organised annually by Arushi to highlight the potential of persons who are blind or visually-impaired and demonstrate how society can benefit from their inclusion.
