Cops nab 3 youths, recover 37 stolen cellphones

Cops produce the robbers in court and obtained their 3-day PCR

Rana Pratap Nagar police have arrested three youngsters for stealing cellphones of over 40 persons in separate incidents across city. The accused were threatening the victims with a fake gun, said police.

The accused are identified as Abhishek Ajay Shende (19), Prashik Prithviraj Dhoke (18), both residents of Drugdhamna, Wadi; and Mahendra Ramesh Mange (21), a resident of Durkheda Borgaon, Dhapewada, Kalmeshwar.

Police have identified the accused during investigation of a robbery case registered at Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station. The cops arrested the accused from their house and interrogated them. The youngsters confessed to the crime and stated that they had committed robberies at Sitabuldi market, Ambazari, Ravi Nagar, Santra market, Children’s Traffic Park, Ram Jhula and Maharajbagh road. The accused have robbed persons walking alone during night hours. They used a fake gun to threaten the victims, the police said.

The accused were produced in the court and the court remanded them three days police custody. Two stolen motorcycles also recovered from the accused.

The arrest was made by Senior PI Shivaji Gaikwad, PI Chandrakant Mane, API Sachin Shirke, HC Shankar Kodape, Satish Yesankar, Anand Yadav, Satish Thakre, Atul Talmale, Ashish Kshirsagar, Abhishek Hardas, Dharmendra Yadav, Shariq Sheikh and others.
