‘Govt should launch schemes in name of Kamgar Kesari Rambhau Ruikar’

Rashtriya Mazdoor Congress (INTUC) celebrated Kamgar Kesari Rambhau Ruikar’s 123rd birth anniversary with great enthusiasm on Monday. Mukund Muley, Secretary of INTUC, Nagpur District garlanded the statue of Ruikar, near Chitnavis Park, along with the members of INTUC and paid tributes to the workers’ leader.

Speaking on the occasion, Muley said: “Ruikar fought against the British Government to safeguard the interest of workers. He also took efforts to increase industrialisation and create employment for the people.”

Muley added that Ruikar gave Nagpur an identity by his workers movement in Pan-India. Ruikar also influenced the workers to take active part in the freedom struggle of the country. “He was the workers’ leader of his time in the country and was sent to jail by the British Government several times,” Muley added.

He also said that Ruikar had a close relationship with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr B R Ambedkar and V V Giri, former President of India.Muley also requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis to launch new schemes in the name of Ruikar looking at his contribution to the workers movement.

Also prominently present were Advocate Jayram Singh Thakur, Prof Pratap Singh Chauhan, Dr Mahadev Nagrale, Rajesh Mishra, Arvind Jaiswal, Raju Sonkusle, Vitthalrao Lavankar, Prakash Gedam, Jagdish Samatkar, Prakash Sahastrabudhe, Shridhar Borade and a large number of INTUC members and followers of Rambhau Ruikar, informs a press release.
