Bitter cold throws normal life out of gear

Bitter cold persists across Madhya Pradesh. Cold wave swept through Rewa, Umaria, Mandla, Khajuraho and Gwalior. Overall, night temperatures are below normal level everywhere in state. Even the maximum temperature at many place’s are below average level.


Bhopal shivered at minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius, 1 degree below normal level. Its maximum temperature was recorded at 24.3 degrees Celsius, 1 degree below normal level. The day was sunny in Bhopal but sun shine failed to provide any relief from cold.


Weather Department said that there were no major changes in minimum temperatures in State. They were significantly below average in districts of Rewa, Shahdol divisions. Minimum temperatures also remained below average in Indore, Gwalior and Chambal divisions. The lowest minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius was recorded at Gwalior. The forecast made by Weather Department said that weather would be mainly dry in maximum parts of state. Cold wave is likely in some parts of Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol and Jabalpur divisions.


Moreover, frost conditions are likely in few parts of Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions. For the utter disappointment of those people who were hoping of some relief from bitter cold, Weather Department said weather conditions are going to be same for next two days. The forecast for Bhopal says that sky will be clean and weather will be dry. Minimum temperature will be around 9 degree Celsius. The mercury level has taken the plunge as cold winds are coming from Kashmir. Jabalpur’s minimum temperature dipped to 7.7 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees below normal. Its maximum temperature settled at 24.3 degrees
Celsius, 2 degrees below average. Likewise, Indore recorded maximum temperature at 25 degrees Celsius, 2 degree below normal.

Its minimum temperature was 10.5 degree Celsius, 1 degree below normal level. Extreme cold conditions also exist in Khajuraho. Its minimum temperature plunged to 4.1 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees below normal mark. Pachmarhi, the lone hill station of State, is shivering at minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees below normal.
