House break-in at Hathital Colony, jewellery, cash stolen

An unidentified person broke into a house and took away jewellery and cash amounting to Rs 30,000 in Hathital Colony under the jurisdiction of Gorakhpur police station in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

According to Gorakhpur police, a man named Satish Kumar Khanna (68), a resident of Hathital, lodged a complaint that he went to sleep at around 10:30 pm on Sunday. He woke up at around 4:30 am on Monday and witnessed damaged mosquito net of a window. He entered the room and found that doors of two almirah were opened and commodities were spread everywhere in the room. When checked, he found that unidentified person entered the house by cutting iron grill of window and took away jewellery, including gold tops of 6 grams, 1 gold ring of 4 grams and cash amounting to Rs 30,000 from safe of almirah. Learning about the incident, a police team reached the spot and started investigation with the help of sniffer dog and finger print expert. Gorakhpur police have registered a case under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC while investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
